What is PRP Treatment?
PRP uses your own blood platelets to decrease hair shedding and stimulate new hair growth, and also increases the thickness of the hair follicle itself. Individuals concerned with thinning hair, a receding or uneven hairline, or bald spots can utilize this treatment to fill in sparse areas.
How PRP Treatment Works
First, your blood will be drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma. The plasma is then drawn into syringes and injected every half-inch over the targeted area of the scalp. There is minimal discomfort, and the side effects are few - typical bruising or slight swelling may occur and will subside within a few days.

Multiple PRP therapy sessions are required to achieve the desired hair regrowth. Most patients undergo 3 sessions, each occurring at 5-6 week intervals. PRP lasts between 18 to 24 months, and because PRP is not permanent, touch-up treatments are recommended once a year.
